Happy Thanksgiving

However you celebrate, pro-turkey or vegan, you’ll likely have some downtime for some Thanksgiving-themed TV watching today. Here are a couple favorites that we’ll be introducing Boy Wonder to this year.

WKRP In Cincinnati

A promo for the radio station goes awry when the manager starts releasing live turkeys from an airplane. If only he had considered gravity! The Hindenburgesque commentary by newsman Les Nessman describes the birds as “hitting the pavement like bags of wet cement” The station owner Arthur Carlson is confounded as he returns to the office and utters the famous line “As god as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!”

I watched this with my mom years ago and we watch it every year after the parade. It cracks us up every time.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

The annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is held in New York City. It’s the world’s largest parade. The three-hour parade is held in from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Morning, and is televised nationally on NBC.

Bex and I love the Broadway segments. We have since we were kids, since before we knew each other. It’s a big deal for us to cook up the cinnamon rolls, the crescent rolls, brew the coffee and the cider, then snuggle up on the couch to watch the performers sing and dance. Being only one, we didn’t expect much from Boy Wonder, but from the second that Laura Benanti broke out into “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly” to the final moments of the Rockette’s kick line, he was glued to the t.v. set. If there was any doubt about it before, he is most certainly our kid.

Thanks for carrying on our favorite Thanksgiving tradition Boy Wonder.

What are some of your Thanksgiving t.v. traditions? Write them in the comments below. We’d love to hear what your families watch every year.

We hope you have and Incredible Thanksgiving everyone! For our families North and East and our friends close by, we’re thankful for all of you most of all! Don’t forget to set your scales back ten pounds tonight.
